Details

1. Match Format
  • 8 v 8 (8 players each side (up to total 12 members / side))
  • 8 overs / side
  • 60 mins / match
2. Playing Area
  • Pitch Length – 50 ft (vs. the traditional 66ft / 22 yards) – Wicket to Wicket
  • Surface – Artificial turf matting
3. Equipment
  • Hard Tennis Ball
  • Stumps (Spring loaded / Collapsible)
  • Cricket bats (Traditional / light weight indoor bats)
  • Not allowed – Spike shoes (Rubber / Metal)
4. Batting
  • Running between wickets allowed
  • Zone A (before 1st pole) – 1 Run + runs between wickets
  • Zone B (between 1st / 2nd pole) – 2 runs + runs between wickets
  • Boundaries (behind the bowler): 4 or 6 runs
    • depending on the manner in which the ball hits the back net
    • On the bounce or after contact with any nets: 4 runs
    • On the full: 6 runs
    • Over throws to the fence can result in 4’s
  • Special ZONE – Shots hitting the designated spots will be counted as bonus runs / special prizes zones etc.
  • PowerPlay
    • One over will be designated as Power Play – All runs scored during Power play will be doubled including Wide ball / No-ball rules
    • If the team does not choose a power play over – the 6th over will be power play by default.
  • Penalty Runs – A bowler not only gets to take a wicket for his team but also to reduce the run tally as each dismissal costs -5 penalty runs for the batting team
5. Bowling
  • Throw bowling is not allowed. Decision will be taken by the umpire.
  • Over per bowler limit: Total 6 bowlers bowling
    • Only 2 bowlers can bowl max 2 Overs
    • Rest get to bowl only 1 over.
  • Wide Ball rules
    • Wide Ball – is NOT counted + 2 runs penalty / wide ball
  • No Ball Rules
    • Any bouncer over shoulder height is a no-ball
    • Full toss above waist is a no-ball
    • Overstepping the crease is a no-ball
    • No Ball – is NOT counted + 2 runs penalty + Next Ball – Free Hit
  • No runs will be allotted on a dead ball. The bowler will have to re-bowl the ball.
  • No-Ball takes precedence over a wide ball
  • A bowler not only gets to take a wicket for his team but also to reduce the run tally as each dismissal costs -5 penalty runs for the batting team
6. Fielding
  • No more than 3 fielders before the 1st poles on the ground
  • Wicket keeper is mandatory
  • Catches: Direct catches, no rebounds. For roof rebounds, ball in play but not a Catch
  • If a player takes the catch and runs into the nets, it will still be deemed a catch and the batsman will be ruled out.
7. Getting Out
  • Bowled – Yes
  • Caught – Yes
  • Run Out – Yes
  • LBW: No LBW outs, foot deflections may result in leg byes/byes.
8. Umpiring
  • Each game will have a Neutral umpire.
  • It’s the captain’s responsibility to send the umpire for their scheduled umpiring.
  • No payment will be made for umpires.
  • If any team misses to do umpiring, then that team will lose 1(0ne) point from their points table.
9. Super Over
  • In the case of Tie, Super Over will be played.
  • Subsequent super overs will be played till a result is achieved; Same rules as Over 8 will be followed in Super Over
10. General Rules / Etiquette
  • Team Roasters will be locked on 04/16/2024 @ 11:59 PM CST. And once after the roaster is locked no more changes are allowed.
  • All players must report at the venue at least 15 min before game start.
  • If at least 5 members of a team don’t report 10 minutes prior to the official start time, the opposite team will be awarded as winners.
  • Umpire decisions are final & irrevocable.
  • Players are required to come in sportswear.
  • Spiked shoes are NOT allowed inside the playing area.
  • All players are expected to be courteous to each other and with the officials
  • Arguments with the umpire will lead to player/team disqualification. This will be strictly followed.
  • Profanity / Consumption of Food / Alcohol are absolutely NOT ALLOWED, and will lead to team disqualification
  • All members will have to sign CrossBat waivers of liability
  • The Tournament Committee reserves the right to amend the rules at any time if it deems such action to be in the best interests of the competition.
